From 04/16/2011 to 11/20/2011, the museum displays the special exhibition "Lost Stories - Recent discoveries by archaeologists in NRW "the most spectacular finds of recent years. From the swimming dinosaurs and prehistoric hamster, alchemists kitchens and precious Münzschätzen up to the fighter-bomber of World War II - all found in North Rhine-Westphalia. Each object has its own fund history, from the initial search for clues about the recovery to the extensive restoration is unique and every discovery is fascinating. Fossil Treasures of the UNESCO World Heritage Monument Grube Messel

Zahlreiche Institutionen, darunter das Musée de l’Homme in Paris, unterstützen die Ausstellung mit Leihgaben.
