The Austrian Federal government plans a comprehensive amendment of the Data Protection Act, which dates back to 2000 (Act 2000). Major changes are the abolition of the permit requirements for video surveillance systems and the introduction of data protection officers in companies. provided still is not demanded by the EU Commission independence of the data protection commission.
